Montessori World

An educational blog for children and adults

Montessori Association of Malaysia

I don’t think I ever mention about the existence of a Montessori association in Malaysia, which I hope and believe will be like the Montessori Association in UK under the umbrella organisation Montessori St Nicholas Charity. I understand that Pn Aisha Z Abdullah is the founder and president of the association. The homepage website looks very promising, however there is still a lot of work to be done to achieve the organisation’s mission, objective and other areas of the organisation.

I have placed the link of the MAM (Montessori Association of Malaysia) under the MONTESSORI category at the side column.

  2. Hi,

I am interested in Montessori Method and plan to enroll on the course. But i found that most of the College that provide the course is outside KL, e.g. Subang Jaya/Petaling Jaya. Appreciate very much if you can provide information where i can get the course in KL area.

PS: I tried to find Montessorian World International that was at Megan Avenue 2 (Yap Kwan Seng) but maybe they moved to new place and i could not find them. Hope you can advise their new place and how to contact them.

Thanks in advance for your kind attention.

    Best Regards,

  3. Joey: Yes, I am a Malaysian. R u practising Montessori method in any setting?

Yudit: well done for deciding to enrol urself in a Montessori course. It is important to choose the best college in spite of the distance. Attend a preview of the course at the college before committing to one. I know some people who actually go to overseas in the hope to be under the tutelage of genuine Montessori lecturers.
Anyway, I’ll try to look for the Montessorian World International you mentioned in the post.

Also recently, i saw a Montessori kindy near Bangsar Village 1, as I was walking out from starbucks, i think. It was more towards the left side of the road. Can’t remember the name.

  38. Siti Nora: Rhythm Publishing Co. number info as stated in the comments: 03-20937733 (F) 03-20934050 (contact Murni Abd Malik.)

Sue: Visit MCI + NAMC + MEWI websites. They conduct distant courses. The links are at the sidebar under the title ‘Montessori Course elsewhere’.

    Comment by rani | April 29, 2009

  39. Sue:

I am currently taking a distant learning course (with tutorial & workshop contact hours) run by Malaysian Child Resource Institute(MCRI) and they are affiliated to Montessori World Educational Institute (MWEI) http://www.montessoriworld.org/

So far, I’m REALLY glad there are contact hours, cos it really helps. And I am very happy I went with MCRI, the principal is very kind and passionate, as are the lecturers. However, they are not as as organized as other Montessori course providers but that was not an important criteria for me.

Unless you are SUPER DUPER disciplined, best not to take a pure distant learning course! Its not a tough course but to be around fellow Montessorians is such an inspiration!

Btw, MCRI’s email is mcri@streamyx.com tel is 03-9132 1748, speak to Michelle or Ruth or Mrs Liew.

Whomever you go with, all the best and may your journey be a wonderful one!

As for a 6 month Montessori course, try to be in touch with me personally as I am a certified Montessori Trainer with Malaysian Child Resource Institute which runs the Montessori World Education Institute (US) Cert and Diploma course. We are about to start a new intake and also one for Montessori trainers
