Samarpanam 2007 – My Child, My Gem Cultural Concert
—————————————————-
Sugam Society, which aims to preserve and disseminate knowledge of the
Indian arts, tradition and culture. Among their many programmes is
their annual cultural concert which goes by the name
Samarpanam.’Samarpanam 2007 – my Child, My gem’ is scheduled to be
held in Kuala Lumpur on the 6th of December 2007. Samarpanam is a
cultural show featuring dances, songs, drama and values related to
Indian tradition and culture. The Samarpanam concert is open to all
children for participation and is conducted with no charge. Last year,
they had 50 children participating. The training lasts two weeks
during the year-end school holidays. The children are given two drink
breaks and one lunch break during the 8am – 5pm training. The idea is
for these young ones to make new friends, learn good things and go
home enriched. The show this year will revolve around the theme ‘My
Child, My Gem’ in the wake of the various brutalities involving
children in recent times. This is not a community problem, it is a
humanity problem which affects all of us, regardless of race, creed
and colour. This year’s Samarpanam will serve to be an awareness
campaign for the public on children’s safety. With regards to this
awareness campaign, we would be distributing t-shirts bearing the
theme ‘My Child, My Gem’. These t-shirts can be obtained at a minimum
contribution of RM20.

The child(ren) will be required to be available on these dates for
rehearsals:

Lunch and tea will be provided during the rehearsals. You are not
required to be present during rehearsals as there will be many
facilitators available to tend to the needs of your child(ren).

The final show will be staged on:
Date : 06 December 2007
Time : 8.30 – 10.30 pm
Venue: AUDITORIUM TAMAN BUDAYA KUALA LUMPUR
VIP : Yang Amat Berbahagia Toh Puan Uma Sambanthan

They will also be having a “Donate-A-Toy” campaign for children who
are less fortunate than ours. Our kids today have more toys than we
ever dreamed off as kids, and they get bored with it after a week and
chuck it aside. Please do the less fortunate kids a favour by donating
a toy to them. Please drop your toys at our centre from 23rd Novemeber
until 5th December 2007. They would be handing out these toys to 300
poor children after the programme.
