Montessorian wannabes, read this book!
Clear, detailed, full of research work from other educationists and psychologists, very well organised and reader-friendly. This is how I would describe the book written by Paula Polk Lillard – Montessori: A Modern Approach. She is an American public school teacher and a Montessorian directress for fifty years. The introduction story of how she jumped into the world of Montessori is very much similar to most of us, through her children, a brilliant assistant principal and her working proximity with a dedicated Montessorian directress. Being a current psychology student, I can relate better to the psychology theories she put forward with the theories I am learning now. Just that her writing makes it seem that her work is so effortlessly presented.
This is a book that you could return to as many times as you want and never seem to get bored in time, despite being first published in 1972.
